Hello! J
Can you see what creature in this
picture?
It not just a unique stone, it is a
Stonefish!
So, in this entry, I will share another
knowledge on Stonefish which is also known as the most venomous fish in the
world. They usually can be found in the coastal regions of Indian and Pacific
oceans and have 5 species of it. And between of these 5 species there are also
species that live in the rivers.
As its name suggests, it’s a fish, a
stonefish to be exact, which camouflages itself, resembling a greyish or
brownish stone. so, that why its name is refer to stone. Thus these animals are
usually lying around on the sea floor around tropical reefs. With their
appearance they are more look just same like the reefs and that make hard for
humans or the predators to notice them. So, most cases happened that a divers
accidentally stepped on the stonefish
back that actually located their 13 large spines.
The
picture shows the large spines that usually humans mess step on it
Why does these animals known as the
most venomous of all fish? Where does their venom?
So… Their venom will be release at the
large spines on their back. That will give bad effect to the divers when they
mess step their feet on the stonefish back. The nuerotoxic venom causes extreme
pain to humans. The possible reactions are severe shock, heart failure,
infection and also will cause to death after 2 hours. The wound that obtain by
the touching of stonefish also will not easily recovery and it usually takes
few months. There is an anti-venom available and scalding hot water also helps
to stop the venom's activity.
After
mess stepped on Stonefish
Stonefish is a type of animals that
using tactic of surprise in attacking their prey. Actually stonefish is a slow
swimmer. However, when it became the predator it will swims faster in catching
the prey and the whole attack only lasts for 0.015 seconds. This shows how fast
the stone fish can be!
It also can stay last longer about 24
hour out of the water and the weird is this fish can split water!
How wonderful our world creatures are!
So, start taking action in saving them for our next generation views J
